Working Student Programme

 What we offer

Our programme is moulding you into shape as a more polished rider, professionalism within your sport, finer details on turning your horses out for competitions, preparing you and your horse for the competition goals ahead, or you may simply want to be a working student as part of the grooming team.

Where this could take you after working with Balmoral and Dse

*You will have more of an insight how to run your own professional competiton yard

*open you to jobs as a rider in a competition yard here or over seas

*Prepare you for working as a head groom/groom for your first job

Job Description 

  Our working student programe is offered to dedicated, self motivated Equestrians. If your passion is to work with horses full time, this opportunity may interest you.

This posistion comes in two terms, from 1st of September to 20th December or 2nd  of January to 30th of May. Working students that are already in the programme have priority of staying on for another term. Please note that this is not a paid position. Your wages come in a package made up of the below,

*4 lessons per week

*housing

*horse grazing(not horse feed, you supply your own)

A normal day would include the feeding up/mucking out, tacking up/washing down, Grooming, horse laundry, helping with jump schooling, riding your horse/lesson, catching horses for vet/farrier and other general duties that come with the day to day work with a big Event team.

You would work along with the other staff at Balmoral/Dse on a day to day basis.

 Your Horse/Lessons

 You can bring your own horse or there is a possibility of leasing one of ours.

Lessons during the week are either private or in a group, c/x  s/j and dressage.

Living Accomodation

Accomodation is 12 minutes away in a nice 3 bedroom house,  shared with other workers.

You are required

*pay shared electricity(between room mates, per month)

*to do your own meals/laundry etc.

Competitions

As a working student, shows will be a huge part of your time with us as we compete most weekends, we have limited space on our truck for your horse, but there is the occasional spot. It is best that you have your own truck or towing vehicle. You will also be grooming at shows on a regular basis as well.
