Its wet wet wet!!!!!!!!
Donna and i took off to my home town of Waterford, Queensland to enjoy two weeks of Aussie sun, after a hectic, busy season.
We spent a week on Tangalooma island where my family has a retreat home over looking Moreton Bay. It was perfect weather and time well spent doing absolutely nothing but lazing around. The house sleeps 12 people(far to big for just the two of us!!) check out the website www.tangalooma.com If your looking for a relaxing holiday its sure a nice place to consider.......Imagaine Fiji and you have Tangalooma island without the expense of the flight's to get there. A special mention must go to our new freinds Fred and Wazza Patterson who treated us to some fine Tangy hospitality........yes from what we can remember it was a lot of fun.
Fred and Wazza who run Fishing charter's on Moreton island www.moretonislandfishingcharters.com.au also own a house over on the Island and spend much of there time over there as a second home.
It was a busy season up to our holiday in the sun especially for Donna, who won Richfields CIC 2* on F.I.S Underdiscussion , leading 1* horse on Clifton Eagle.
This followed closely by Puhinui CCI 3 day with Donna again winning the CCI 2* 3 day event on F.I.S Underdiscussion.
The new Year brought in new and exciting horses and owner's for us including Vicki and Steve Jacks, Michelle and Robbie Innes, Sue Clarke, Anne and Brent Leak, Carol and Joe Kann, Sara and Tim Valey and Carolyn Jolley.
They Joined Tom and Gay Mc Clunie, Jayne and Ray Burmester in the owner's box for Donna's future eventing prospect's.
We started getting a little busy so we opened the working student programe up in January, with Simone Wood taking on this oppurtunity. Simone stayed with us for two months, ending up buying Compeer off us and David Goodin.
Following this Rhiannon leak joined us for two weeks, prior to her going over to England to work for the NZ winter. Rhino, as she is known.......certainly entertained us for her brief stay, she certainly is an entertainer to say the least.
Heading now into the busy time before Taupo 3 day event we were joined by our American working student Kristy Trout and Donna's student Nicky Boyd. The girls certainly did work hard and long hours prior to the 3 day. Taupo brought us more help as we had a total of 8 horses at the event between Donna and my self. Here we were lucky enough to have on board Racquelle Gibberd and Sally Robertson. The 3 day ran very smooth for us with the 4 girls all doing a tremedous job presenting our horse's to the highest standard.
Donna took out the CCI 1* class on the talented Holstien gelding Corambo who led from start to finish in a huge feild of about 70 horses, just Chocolate owned by Sara and Tim Valey also finished on his dressage score and finished 5th in this class.
Eagle held his own in his first CCI 2** class and finished a creditable 6th placing.
Taupo finished and this saw most of our horses go to there prospective homes for a nice winter's break, and give our paddock's and us a well deserved rest.
Home after the holiday and back into the swing of things......
Nicky Boyd decided she liked us enough to stay on and pursue her eventing dream and has now been joined by Kirk Myers who has just joined us.
At the moment while the season has died down a little, we are getting to enjoy the company of our friend's/owner's...........I'm not sure if winter is healthy or not by the time we are entertained.................ha ha if your confused by this i'm sure you need to have us visit........
Our favourite quotation's are " Ok this time we will drive home tonight.......not in the morning!!!!!!!!!" Or not two days later!!!!!!!!!!!! Mc Clunie Bloodstock your to blame......
Stay tuned for more recent updates from Taniwha Farm..............
