Puhunui 2011

11:22am, Monday 12th of December 2011, by Simone Kann

Donna never stops entertaining me or who ever is around her....somehow somewhere somethings are going to happen........this time she waited till the prize giving in the 2*.

It all started when Donna was trying to put the sponsors rug on Sensation(Richie) when he was getting quite agitated as he does!!!!! Alana decides she should hold a front leg up...as we do to put his hind boots on sometimes.........So as this was all happening Richie decides to excape and hits Donna in the head....knocks her out breifly and she falls off at a halt. Realising she's on the ground and not in the saddle she quickly jumps back on after bow to the croud.( I have no words for Donna and she yet again sent me into a fit of laughter!!!!!)Yes Jan from Take the moment photography was right there!!!!

Apart from that......... Wow, what a great way to end the year with our fantastic team of horses.

Donna had a fantastic win on Balmoral Sensation in the CIC 2* with Henton Executive followed closely behind in 2nd, Juliett Wood was in 3rd on Bold Trader and Louise Leonard on Chrialcha Stonehaven in 4th.

Donna lead from start to finish on Sensation, just taking some time faults in the xc while he is still a little green at this level.

Henton Executive was a star all weekend and pulled up from 11th in the dressage to end up finishing on his dressage score.

In the 1 star we had Rebel Morrows Tall Jan who was awsome all week end, she was in second after the dressage and finished in second behind Clarke Johnstone on Call me Al.

Rebel rode Collen Marrets Sports Cafe and Paddy rode Steph Grays Wolverine.

The three star we had Sara/ Tim Varley’s and our own Just chocolate who won the dressage, but had a green run out at the trpple skinny logs off a hill. He was super the rest of the course and finished eventually down the leader board in 5th. We were certainly not to dissapointed in his result and was very proud of him.................except myself,Paddy and Nicole would like to complain to higher management for getting flung around prior to the start box!!!!!! We did miss the start time by about 15 seconds, as Donna went galloping into the box and nearly had 3 team members on the ground.

The 3 star was won by Christen Hayde on Tandara Sweet As, Christen and Sweety also won Richfields 3* only 2 weeks ago. They are on fire and certainly the combination of partner James Jackson who is on the help/support team is proving very valuble in deed. Jock Pagent and Clifton Air tight are looking great, they finished in 2nd.

The Pre Novice Championship was won convincingly by Danni Lodder on board Waitangi Hotmail, he is by Escudo. Danni and Scooter are proving  they have star quality and will be an exciting combination. Nick Brooks and the striking "Striking" were runners up in this class and Nick is VERY EXCITED about this special horse.

We had lots of 1 day horses also, that performed well with Paddy riding Cara Goodmans Landition in 5th place and improving very well all the time. In the 3 day pre novice we had no luck in the dressage phase with the horse’s unfortunately being out side the pace right from the start.......The Bayley’s Waitangi My Space performed well in his pre novice as did Cass Opie’s Drums n roses. Rebel Morrow rode Sheena Ross’s and our own Alpha Romeo sw and had a fun time on him for the week end.

We decided to stay in town last night and had a few drinks to celebrate the 2* win with our Aussie mates Rebel and Nelly, it was great to catch up and have them out for the event and for them to see thier horse run second in the 1*.

Donna Stealing the computer here.....

A huge thank you to our Team Tess, Paddy, Nicole, Alana and Racquelle for working amazing all weekend and how well they all work as a Team. Steph for helping the whole weekend and getting McDs sunday morning!, Cara for keeping Paddy in line. Alana for not letting go in the prize giving of me so i could have a 30second nap!! (Just keeping prize giving interesting!!)

Our Sponsors, Spurs of Counties for supplying our attire and gear, Dunstan for feeding the Team and Platiumn for helping make them all come through happy and sound.

To the biggest supporter/sponsor and manager Sim thank you, none of it would be possible without you, and i’m not even sure how you organised 11 horses to jog both times!!!

It’s a huge Team effort and everyone did everyone proud:)) (Alana you have a jump lesson on Jag with no sturrips this pm!!!!)
