We have had a very full on week here at Balmoral Eventing, We had dressage lessons on Wednesday and Thursday, Aussie Buyers Thursday/ Friday (i'll go into detail!) Buyers friday, saturday, and a dressage show and buyers on Sunday!
Alana Alexander joined us this week on her Uni break, so was their for Our beloved aussie (hate to admit it, but fast becoming friends that we like to have around!) buyers. Tall Jan arrived which was very exciting for me, not so exciting for Laureen or Paddy, she is such a competitive mare i love her to bits, but she is very much the alpha female..... please at a show, don't wander to close to the little poppit. We had a generator and tall jan booked together to fly... the generator pulled out, when it found out it was on the same plane!
We had fantastic dressage lessons with Penny Castles, and her direct approach was something Sim and I really liked. Now to those bloody{?>{ i mean beloved Aussie mates,,, Couger (paddy the poor little fella) Karate Belt (auctally travelled with her own Karate Belts!!!!, Rangiriri pub was rather excited about that) and the lovely Donna, who is quietly spoken, but i'm sure she was wondering about her mates at times! :)
While trying horses, Couger spots dad mastering bulls,, "i wanna do that", Karate Belt backs this idea up, so the family heads out for a muster at the back of the farm to the top hills, aboard our 3 and 4yr olds.... u have the visual,, paddy on a newly broken 3yr old, alana aboard her large young horse, simmy on Fiddles (fiddles was very excited to get the call up for mustering) myself on Carlos doing his maiden muster, Karate Belt aboard Okey, and Couger aboard Couger,, the devil in them!! When a game of tag starts up its a pure ponyclub dream, all style is out the door, and apparently so are rules... as i think the whole valley heard how appaerently my simmy cheated!!! surely not...... although it was 1 aussie to another,,, so you auctally can't be too sure which of the convicts was in the wrong! Is it a tag if Simmy gets tagged then tags Karate belts horse on the nose!!!! How i'll finish this is the Couger's worked well as a team (i think 1 of them had more say but no direction on the hills) and those bulls had no chance, and dad "sounded like a pony club camp gone wild" and one more of dad's quotes "you all galloped past, i was just sitting back to see who wouldn't stop in time, i new one of you wouldn't" We all had alot of fun, and it's hard to believe Karate Belt and Sim laugh so hard on tag, that everyone is safe! (it could also be they were arguing about rules at 820mpm!!!) Meanwhile sweet Donna has all the photos of the event from the safety of the Hilux with mum. We look foward to november for their return:))
Dressage event, last minute decision as we weren't busy enough, and apparently could squeese in 6hrs of dressage, Simmy on Darcy, lovely horse, great team, exciting future ahead for these guys, Okey went for the trip and continued to tell us all about how she would do things and who was doing what during the 6hrs, and who did what on the ride their..... and .... and.....and.... (nemo comes to mind here!!) although she looked fantastic and showed off as she does:))), Alana was schooling for her up coming season, Paddy rode Balmoral Boomerang and we are very excited about their progress as a team, he did us proud and it was great to see Vicki and John lawson who paddy boards with, come out to support him. Paddy buys the rounds of drinks next time out, (i hope your reading this paddy! :)) and Chocco and Richie for me where like kids in candy shops, so much mischeif to be had, that is why i love them.
We are off to Taupo on Wednesday for babyville central,, we can't wait, i think Okey has organised the whole week for us already (thankfully she can't speak!!!!!)

Coming home in one piece after a good honest days work of tag and mustering the hills......well actually if i do a head count there were 4 Aussies and Alana and I......
