Baby Hanua

10:14am, Monday 23rd of January 2012, by Donna Smith

Before we left for Hanua we got some exciting news to say Just Chocolate had made the Trans Tasman squad, congratulations to Sarah and Tim Varley, so far nearly all going to plan,,,, a few more ticks beside a few more things to go for the year:))

Hunua, baby day out......

Well overall, we have to say their was more controlled disapline from our babies than we all expected! As someone put it when we opened the back door, the heat that came out of the horse compartment was like a sauna, but you get that i guess when you have 10  4yr and 5yr olds in small place having their first events!

All up we had 14horses, including Paddy’s, Alex and Tess’s.

Saturday morning Fiddles (Balmoral Fiddlesticks)had hurt himself in the yard, playing with Henton all nite over the yards, so sim kindly offered me Okey in replacement.... not to have to be asked twice i jumped at the opportunity, WOW little okey can move and can jump, and is so well schooled! I was very excited to get a 10 in the dressage:)) Couger (okey’s sister) at her first time out did a super little test, and showjumped with alot of Air! Balmoral Henton, stunning horse had his first training start, noticing the difference in height, sim and him were certainly getting some serious height, especially XC! Sims grin was huge after(in her words "its a real one"). Then we had Kip(Balmoral Ayres Rock), 4yr old owned by Joe and Carol Kann, stunning..... thats all i can say,,, and hopefully in the near future i will be able to break into a canter on XC!, Strauss did himself proud by pulling up to 4th on his dressage. Balmoral Montgomery, aka Monty also did a super job, Black Ice(owned by Tess Anderson) proved to be a fun horse for a young rider/amature(for sale). Tess and Weeman did us all proud, rode in a lovely rythum. Paddy and Soft Touch owned by Sally Miller looked very confident together, and Vivacious RE of Tracy & Nicki Smith’s did fantastic to finish 4th, lovely moving/jumping mare that is also for sale. Alex and George were fantastic, couldn’t quite do enough for the win to finish 2nd, but are an exciting combination for the future.

So soverall Okey was the Superstar of our little team winning the Young event horse, thanks to Sim for training her all up:)))

This weekend we were off to dressage at Clevedon to Qualify Oakey for HOY dressage.........and to take mine for some dressage practise, but somehow before we went on our break in December when i did the entries i missed entering Sim in the main tests on the second day!!!!!!! So this leaves her Just the Saturday to Qualify...so she has to get two out of two. Woops.

So Instead our plans changed once we found this out, We will now head to Woodhill with 15 horses and Sim will join us after their little dressage stint at Clevedon.
