Gearing up for the season

This week has been busy with our new working students getting into their routine/lessons and collecting our horses from owners/hills and any other place they may have spelled at over the xmas break.

We have come up with a new extension to our working student programme, this now involves our foriegners rotating to outside Eventing and dressage Yards. Tracy and Nicki Smith(dressage), Angela Lloyd(dressage,Eventing) will take on board the girls leading upto Horse Of the Year. Im sure this will work well and give the girls more exposure to the happening’s of other top yards here in New Zealand. Paddy will also spend quality time at the Smith’s dressage yard over the next few weeks prior to the season starting for him.

This week we have Hunua baby horse trials......this will be quite an exciting time as i think over half the horses going from here have never been out before!! After our schooling session on Friday with Nick Brooks, we feel he is alittle ahead of us!!

The last few days have been nice weather so we have Hay cut, Scoutie Kann has a little scoutie black eye, (we think she was taking on the baby mice again) or going out in sumpthy for Sim who had alittle crash earlier in the week, not sure if she will be in action by this weekend,,,,,,, yahhhh,,,,, i mean “oh heck”,,, i get/have to ride Henton and Okey:))))) although she seems to be in a hurry to stop walking like she needs a zimmer frame,, think she feels it will be more pain watching me ride her precious 4yr olds!!!! Izzy had an up close and personal experience with NZ soil, and came up with all the right answers “oh I’m fine”, and a giant grin.

Thats about all we have to report on this last weeks fun,,, we are thinking this week is going to be an exciting one!
