Aaron Station

2:27pm, Monday 17th of October 2011, by Simone Kann

Donna had a great weekend running Just Chocolate in his first Advanced start, he placed a very creditable 4th over all out of a big field of 24 horses for the North Island of New Zealand. Choccy is still getting his changes and was rather dramatic with his left change. Although he was rather pre occupied as well with the showjumping that was also going on at the same time, he was only 5 points off the lead after the dressage. The Young riders ended up dominating the top 3 placings in this class with Jessie Woods and her awsome mare Too Predictable. Jessie and this mare have a real partnership and i was lucky enough to watch most of the Advanced at Aaron and they looked pretty damn good. Ashliegh Mckinstry and Pioneer Makokomiko rocked around the track pretty quick for 2nd, as did simon Gordon on his horse to finish in 3rd. Christen Hayde had an awsome run on her lovely mare Tandara Sweet As to finish in 5th then Bryce Newman on the scopey chestnut gelding Bates Trademark.

In the Intermediate we ran Balmoral Sensation and Henton Executive around, they were awsome and has great xc runs and are looking good for the end of the season. This class was won by yet another young rider Benjamin Bateman who scorched around the xc fast and clear.

In the novice we had Sheena Ross's two Sw horses, Winston and Alpha Romeo as well as Balmoral Tangalooma. This class was won by Sophie Wilkinson  who has been on fire since the season started.

Winston and Tangalooma were in first and second on the flat with 23 and 26 penalties. Reggie(Alpha Romeo) was just out of the top ten on the flat, for a 5 year old he is starting to strengthen nicely and is a seriously cool horse. Donna ended up have a little time on both hers finshing 2nd on Tangalooma and 5th on Winston.

In the Pre novice we had knightly Venture owned by Tarraleah performance horses who won the dressage on a 21 just in front of Rebel Morrows Balmoral Tall jan on a 22, we also had Black Hawk farms Tomohawk 11 who is just cruising around getting mileage as is  Balmoral Fiddlesticks.

Thanks to Robyn Hurst for popping in to watch her homebred Alpha Romeo Sw and also do the videoing of many horses for us.

We left Aaron last night and stayed at Taupo for the night, we arrived just before the start of the game between the All Blacks and the Aussies.......Shelley Ross did offer to help get our horses fed and watered so we could go into town to watch the game at a pub with them...........untill i told her the All Blacks were going to choke anyway!!! Im  not sure why but she drove off very quicky without us. But im sure she had the last laugh when the All Blacks crushed the Wallabies.

Paddy went again to a local event horse trial with a few young one's and did us proud once again. We arrived home to find everything in order and the horses all looking good.

Unfortunately Northland Horse Trials this week has been cancelled due to the ground being so wet. Alternative plans include xc schooling at Taupo later in the week and a showjump day on labour day monday in Cambridge for our horses that were entered for Northland.

We have some really cool upper level horses that have just arrived this weekend that are for sale, we will get the info and pictures up asap.
