a week in the bay Mid week

8:56am, Thursday 13th of October 2011, by Simone Kann

Have you ever woken up and miss placed a Mack Truck...... last seen been used as a taxi service, by none other than Tom Lane, returning Zoe to her Island. Our major concern about loosing the truck was, did we auctally have truck race time trials we were talking about??? and if we did,, where did we leave ours???

Here we are at Hawkes bay all camped out and having a super time. Ponies are all getting lots of work and attention. We gave Lauren and Tessa monday, Tuesday and Wednesday off(Dont worry Paddy your time will come with another day off soon) We got to Wednesday morning and couldnt wait till they got back to look after us.

The yarding situation is basically take your own line and build where you want.....Or so we thought.. untill Kate Wood who kept getting itchy feet every day and going walkabout with her truck and ponies(are we sure Kate is not from an Australian background with her walkabouts) this time moved to where we thought was the spot of the century( although it was in our make do dressage arena with mirrors(windows) Kate managed to get one night in the prestige spot untill she got the boot from the prime location!!! Or in Janine Haydes case you can just let them go free grazing and run a muck.

Heelan Tomkins had the upper cut on us all, she is on the Island with Zoe, and we generally only see them at night or in the distance..actually we havnt seen Zoe since the first BIG night when she left in the Mack taxi driven by Tom....which we all were in bed by 11pm!! Might have something to do with the Pimms starting at 12 noon, instigated by Kirsty Guilfoyle and Janine Hayde.(Both ladys ride horses for a living so were happy to have time out with just a few horses to ride for the week) Janine has been sharing her truck with Scouty kanns Purex teddy bear, we had to prie him off her this morning as Scouty went home with Uncle James, for a weekend of high maintance for James!

It was great to see James during the week while he was down here working doing NZPH horses teeth and of course supporting his better half Christen Hayde.....who is not Janines sister or related at all. although James did cause an upset with the bedding situation leaving Tom in a situation where he had to accommodate Christens Groom and Nicole!!!!

Nicole Roberston is our Team Vet, although she nearly didnt make the trip as her Turbo in her truck gave her curry on the way down uruwhuras(i think thats how you spell it) mountain and nearly ended up in the bottom of the gorge with the Japanese tourists from a few years back. She has been pretty quiet being on call 24/7...although it was all go this morning when the shepard wanted to move a flock of 120 sheep through our make shift yards........we thought Tall Jan was about to take hearding to a new level!!

Donna borrowed James car on Tuesday to do a quick shop at Flaxmere.... now Flaxmere is not the kind of place you want to leave a car full of puppies and personal wallets/bags!!!!! So picture this....Peg and Panda Jackson went shopping into flaxmere New World in Donnas jacke, one under each arm...this was after they went into the chemist and the service station, Donna was also carrying James prize possesions and Christin’s handbag plus the shopping, i think Donna will pay to put locks on James car after this!! Priceless....I had tears in my eyes when she was telling us the story and sorry i missed it, although glad otherwise it would of been me with the puppies!!!

We are learning lots though, Amanda Wards who is our Team Nurse, now she is not married to the lovely guy who follows her around with video camera etc.....Michael is Amandas brother and a good to catch for any one looking...We also learnt he is not going out with our Team Teacher Cara Goodman.

Now as for the Wards truck, its been pretty quiet over there as poor Amanda(our Nurse) is pretty sick and has been since Australia beat south africa in the footy on Sunday night!!! The last time we saw Michael was when he opened the Champas bottle inside our truck and we saw the cork riccoshay off the wall three times or more...but it managed to miss all of us somehow!!

Thursday, today and we are talking about going to the races in the arvy after we have all worked the ponies, the sun is coming out and looking good if we do..We may meet up with Calclutta Cameron Mackie for a few tips on what to put our money on.

Off to Aaron Station tomorrow with all of us, all the horses looking well..nicole has them in great shape and nearly all of us are trotting up sound. We look forward to watching Tom who has theived the ride off Kirsty Guilfoyles horse In the groove and apparently wont give it back!!!

Have a good weekend and we will report on Aarron Station on Monday.
