This week saw us move from the hills to the flats closer to the yard, wich makes a big difference for us time wise. Our staff are now in our old house and enjoying the views.
We had the weekend with Sally Robinson who has now moved back from the U.S and is working temporary for Sam Macintosh for the next couple of weeks. Its great to have her stay with us for the weekend, she is an amazing cook!!!!
Tom and Gaye McClunie have been working hard on getting our truck upto scratch and spring cleaning it for the up coming season, its amazing how Turps/steelo pad and a Gurney does wonders on the outside. Although we are having issues with our oven and it seems that its "shot", well as Donna said to Gaye and Tom...."oh thats fine when we go to Taupo schooling next week for a couple of days you guys will just have to come with your Camper to cook and take care of us then.....its no problem at all!!!
I re visited my West Virginia days as well yesterday with Donna coming home from the yard smiling with only 1 and a half front teeth!!! Well i had flash backs of my time in Summit Point where its pretty normal for people to smile at you with a few teeth missing. All was ok though it wasnt from a horse, it was an offending bit of cheese bread she snuck in before dinner....
Our new temp groom Lauren arived from Scotland on Friday and has settled in well, although she did try to remove some of our fencing when i stole the car for 5 minutes to return it back to her and leave it in gear!!! Now Donna is used to me doing this, but it will take Lauren some time to check....or maybe not after ramming Grandads car into the steel gate. Grandads car came off better than the gate!!
Donna got some exciting news that her U.S boss's Karen and David O'connor are coming over in November for Equidays. We are really looking forward to catching up with them when they come out.
This weekend we are off to the races at Ellersie to support Andie Gibberd who is riding her pony in the "pony race" which is held in between the feature class's. Lets hope young Andie who is 10 has her pony fit and ready to run. Although i saw them only two weeks ago, they were helping Donna muster some cattle out the back paddock and im pretty saw i saw Andie at flat gallop leaving donna well behind...
Hopefully we can get some of the young horses clipped out and take to a small showjump practise day on Sunday, im sure it will be quite exciting for us and the horses.
We are declaring today a pratical learning day by watching Eventing and showjump videos, as we wait for the bad weather to dissapear and possible snow! We did start the day with good intentions, although i think its best for every one and the horses to stay INSIDE.
